Resident Council
Our Resident/Family Council provides ongoing opportunities
to meet with other Residents and families to discuss issues,
and to learn more about health concerns and our quality
care program. Getting involved in the Resident/Family
Council is an excellent way to participate in planning
and making recommendations.
Accomplishments of the Resident/Family Council have
included approving the Resident’s Bill of Rights, hands-on gardening
projects, supporting new pets and increasing choice of menus.
Requests and/or recipes from Residents/Families for a
particular food item are provided to our dietitian who
develops the nutritional balanced meals. Resident/Families
are encouraged to share their “family recipe”
which the staff will prepare on Resident Choice days each
month. As well, with the Resident’s permission,
the Resident’s name is posted with their recipe
on the menu board and in the Resident/Family newsletter.
Meetings are held at least quarterly, and the time alternates
between afternoons and evenings. Resident Council meetings
include Concerns/Issues/Compliments to assess Resident/Family
satisfaction with the services provided. Resident/family
participation is encouraged and suggestions for improvements
are welcome. All concerns/compliments/suggestions received
are discussed with department managers. |
